Our History

ABF Learning Center and Academy (ABF) (School #7696) is a private school registered with the Florida Department of Education. Founded in 2007 with just 18 students, A Better Foundation (ABF) quickly grew to over 100 students within a year and moved to a new facility soon after. This relocation prompted another significant increase in enrollment, reaching 175 students. In 2019, ABF expanded its offerings to include K-8 services, and the following year, added high school classes, becoming a K-12 institution. Beyond traditional education, ABF provides behavioral and speech therapy for students with special needs. In June 2021, the ABF Athletics program was introduced and currently serves over 60 athletes. As of August 2024, ABF Academy has 197 enrolled students and has achieved a 100% graduation rate for 26 students, thanks to early intervention, individualized learning plans, and College and Career Readiness programs.

At the heart of ABF Academy’s vision is a profound belief in the transformative power of education to shape individuals and open doors to new opportunities. The school is dedicated to fostering an environment that prioritizes academic excellence while upholding a strong commitment to fairness and inclusivity. ABF Academy strives to be a place where every student, regardless of their background or circumstances, can realize their full potential. The school values the unique strengths, perspectives, and experiences each student brings to the learning community, aiming to create a nurturing atmosphere that honors and supports everyone, fostering a strong sense of belonging and empowerment. ABF Academy’s improvement journey started with a comprehensive self-assessment of the school’s strengths and weaknesses, including data collection on student achievement, attendance, and other metrics. Based on these assessments, ABF set specific, measurable goals aligned with Florida standards to address areas such as closing the achievement gap, enhancing College and Career Readiness, strengthening Early Literacy, promoting positive behavior, reducing disciplinary incidents, and increasing physical fitness levels. Detailed action plans and strategies were created to meet these goals. The school continuously collects and analyzes data to monitor progress, adjust strategies, and engage stakeholders. ABF is committed to ongoing improvement by offering professional development, expanding successful practices, and celebrating achievements.
